Isabel Ge Mahe, the managing director of Apple Greater China, announced that the China Clean Energy Fund has exceeded its target and has invested in more than 1 gigawatt of new wind and solar projects in China.
She said that Apple is proud to work closely with suppliers and use innovative methods to accelerate the development of renewable energy in China.
It is understood that in 2018, Apple used innovative methods to help 12 suppliers operating in China obtain renewable energy resources through the China Clean Energy Fund.
The fund has exceeded its target and has invested in more than 1 gigawatt of new wind and solar projects in 14 provinces in China.
These projects are expected to provide more than 2,400 gigawatt hours of renewable energy annually, equivalent to the domestic electricity consumption of 2.5 million people in China.
As of now, Apple's global operations and manufacturing supply chain have now used more than 18 gigawatts of clean electricity, more than three times the amount in 2020.
Apple's 2030 goal is the ambitious goal of becoming completely carbon neutral throughout the company's entire value chain by 2030.
As part of Apple's 2030 goals, the company is calling on global suppliers to use clean energy and make all Apple-related operations fully carbon neutral.
